Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Hyderabad hosts its 2nd International Conference on Management Challenge and Trends in the Digital era. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies was established in 2010 in the alluring city of Hyderabad, also known as the educational hub of the nation, having the distinction of being the second largest city for IT exports in India.
The second national conference by NMIMS Hyderabad, along with its AMBA accreditation seeks to establish the management institute as the hub of academic research, moving with the times in understanding what the challenges of the digital era for managers today and tomorrow. There are continuous management challenges that the industry needs to address. In the context of the digital era, the national conference invited esteemed guests’ research work contributions to different management domains, vis-a-vis marketing, operations, finance/banking/economics, general management and HR.
The day 1 of the conference took place in Hyderabad at Hotel Vivanta by Taj, on 27th January, followed by a workshop on the 28th. It commenced with an inauguration ceremony welcomed by the Director of the institution, Dr. Prithvi Yadav who set the theme for the conference by asking pertinent questions like what digital era is, the various kinds of challenges faced, and the level of security as a business/corporate professional, while providing subsequent answers to each.
This was followed by the introduction and keynote address of Mr. Jay Krishnan, the CEO of T-Hub who gave a picture of the true life of a motivated entrepreneur, and also some self-tests that would individuals analyze their abilities to become either a venture capitalist, a manager, or an entrepreneur.
The second keynote speaker was Mr. Sekar SNSR, chairman of Sekar and Associates who shared his valuable life experiences by rightly exemplifying the story portrayed in the movie, ‘the pursuit of happiness.’ He also discussed the significance of keeping one’s mind open and being able to acknowledge what is not known, and keep learning more and more at any point in time. The third keynote speaker was Dr. Awadh Dubey, founder of RK Devi Eye Research Institute, who emphasized upon the importance of not forgetting one’s root values no matter how far he/she travels in life. He also shared his views on bliss and happiness as being an ultimate goal in every individual’s life.
Last but not the least, it was the fourth guest for the day, Dr Jack Reardon, Professor at Hamline University at Minnesota, USA who shared his valuable insights on the remarkable revolution that has taken place over time in the field of technology, by giving suitable examples, and highlighting the times when people used to do things manually.
The ceremony was concluded by conference briefing by Dr. Radha Krishna NMIMS Hyderabad.
The second half of the conference focused on the paper presentations by the delegates, of which the finance papers were chaired by Dr. Loknath Reddy, Associate Professor, University of Hyderabad, general management papers by Dr. Sita Vanka, professor at the University of Hyderabad, and marketing papers by Dr. Vidyasagar Reddy, Director, NALSAR business school.
Adding on to this, the doctoral papers were chaired by Dr. Sita V, Dr. Vidyasagar Reddy, and Dr. Jack Reardon. Each presentation was followed by a question-and-answers’ session with the audience. The papers ranged across diverse topics based the theme of ‘Various trends and challenges in the Digital Era.’ All of them were well addressed by the respective chairs who shared their valuable insights as well as effective recommendations on each.
